PYB Unpacked: Summer '21
Hey there!
I’m so excited to share about PYB Unpacked! Our staff figured we’d be intentional this summer with sharing stories from this past year and what goes on behind the screens! And what better way than through an email campaign 👻 So settle in, grab a snack (or two) and get ready for a recap of our past Pack Your Bags year!
Jason and Ashley Gamber’s Favorite Memory:
“To be completely fair there are so many great memories to choose from. Being a part of such a great program coincides with great memories and great experiences. This past school year was our “covid year”. Many thought we weren’t going to be able to do much with all the restrictions that were in place across the board. As staff, we still believed for great things!! We believed that the Lord had His hand over this Pack Your Bags program. We believed that the Lord cared about what we were doing and the people that we were serving. This has rang true time and time again throughout the year. While on one of our fall trips to Chicago, we were able to do everything thing that we set out to do. Things may have looked a little different but non-the-less impactful. The very day we left the Windy City, it was closed down. Our God is so good! We are so thankful for our heavenly father’s protection and provision.”
But it doesn’t stop there! Another trip that PYB does is a trip to an Native American Reservation. This trip is typically taken in the fall semester, but the Lord had different plans. At the time we couldn’t see that the Lord’s hand was in the rescheduling of this trip, but looking back it is so evident. Shortly after arriving to Pine Ridge, we received word that the reservation opened that day! Praise the Lord. All of us felt encouraged, knowing God had done it again.
This next part is our favorite part and gives me tears as I am typing this up. Let me start with saying the Lord’s ways are so much higher than ours. His plans are so much better than ours. While on this trip we had the opportunity to meet a wonderful young man. His name is Sam. Little did we know that if we would have gone in the fall semester we wouldn’t have met Sam. We wouldn’t have been able to pour into him or encourage him. I am so thankful for the opportunities that the Lord gives us. While we were there some of the guys on staff told him about Trinity Bible College and how it would be a great for for him. I guess we made an impression on him because a week later he showed up to College Days! Sam filled out an application and is planning on attending this coming fall semester. The Lord is working. Even when we don’t see it. Even when we don’t feel it. Sam has such a great story and I hope you get the chance to meet him someday!
SUCH an awesome testimony of what God has planned for our trips!
Check your emails next week for another PYB Unpacked!
